In August of 2012 I had an idea sparked by:
1 Part rising tension with the political campaigning being done at the time.
1 Part fantastic television (thank you Newsroom).
1 Part worthwhile conversation (thank you Skyler).
1 Part a palpable need for change
I threw the idea out to a few friends via Twitter, followed up with an e-mail, and with enthusiasm generated we started to try and make a change.
Initially I contacted Lindsay Ballant and Skyler Brungardt
Lindsay - A visionary art director and designer
Skyler - A brilliant UX Web Developer
and eventually McCaul Baggett
McCaul - A stellar multi-talented project manager.
We collaborated from across the country for several months trying to plot out the best approach and asked for help from a lot of like-minded folks.

Unfortunately things never got off the ground. The team that had been assembled had ideas that didn't match and, since we were all working for free, life (and our real jobs) kept getting in the way. The project died in November of 2012 and hasn't felt a breath of life since. I still have hope for the spark.
It makes sense to me still that the political machine be simplified. It will come with time... it has to.
In the mean time I recently discovered a website that does, more or less, what the idea we were working on was supposed to do:
http://www.isidewith.com/
Hopefully they will run with the idea and make it something great and impactful!
