2012 was a great year for me to come up with ideas that never seemed to go anywhere...

I had a bad motorcycle accident at the end of July in 2012 and was left with a lot of free time during my recovery. I was also faced with a lot of new scars, including one on the back of my right hand that looked quite a lot like a 'Peppermint Farms Goldfish.' I looked at my "Goldfish Scar" quite a lot while it was still healing (which took ages.)

It was a particularly large wound when I first acquired it and people asked about it frequently. I would have clients remark about it while I filled out forms for them; check-out ladies in the grocery store wonder aloud to themselves while I handed them my credit card; or children poke at it and boldly ask me what happened.

All that free time coupled with being overly conscious about my new scar compounded by having to tell the story over and over again left me with the thought that I should just write a book about it. That thought led to another and another until I decided that it was a pretty good idea after all. I had a number of interesting scars that I had picked up over years of martial arts and mini-adventures. What would be the harm in making a simple hand-centric photo book?

So I jotted my idea down using my trusty iPhone notes and:

The only thing that really prevented me from pursuing this particular project was that I didn't have an old-timey camera. Not that I needed one... I just had a fantasy of using an old-timey camera to complete this project and I didn't have the funds to make that happen.

It would be just as easy to use an iPhone and I'm sure I'll pull the trigger on this idea and make it happen as soon as I decide to stop being lazy.
